Hollow piston cylinders

Hollow piston cylinders are special hydraulic cylinders in which the piston rod has a continuous bore.
Discover our hollow piston cylinders of series 82, available as single-acting cylinders (type: 82-50) and double-acting cylinders (type: 82-60) in six different sizes, optionally with NBR or FKM seals.

Technical information

Safety note

Hollow piston cylinders generate very high forces. When using our product, it must be ensured that no one is in the working area of the cylinder during operation and that no access to the working area is possible. The installation of the cylinders must be carried out by qualified personnel.

Operating pressure

Our hollow piston cylinders are designed for a maximum operating pressure of 500 bar.

Seals

Our hydraulic hollow piston cylinders are equipped at the factory with seals made of acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR), polyurethane (PUR) and polytetrafluoroethylene compounds (PTFE compounds) (temperature range: -20°C to +100°C). The combination of the different sealing materials ensures a high level of sealing across all pressure ranges. For special requirements regarding temperature resistance, seals made of fluorocarbon rubber are available (FKM seals). The temperature range of the FKM variant extends from -15°C to +180°C.

Installation position

Our cylinders can be used in any installation position.

Pressure fluids

Pressure fluids based on mineral oil in accordance with DIN 51524 and DIN 51525 must be used as the operating medium for the hollow piston cylinders. For standard applications in temperature ranges from 20°C to 60°C, the use of hydraulic oil with the specifications of HLP 46 is recommended.

Transverse forces

Transverse forces on the piston rod of the cylinders must be avoided.

Travel speed

The maximum piston speed must not exceed 0.5 m/sec.

Application

Hydraulic hollow piston cylinders are suitable, among other things, for use in mechanical engineering, fixture construction, plant engineering and mold making.

Hydraulic hollow piston cylinders from Germa GmbH – efficient and innovative cylinder solutions for mechanical engineering, fixture construction, mold making, tool making and plant engineering

Our hydraulic hollow piston cylinders are available in two variants: as single-acting (type: 82-50) and double-acting (type: 82-60) cylinders, each in six different sizes. The selection between NBR or FKM seals enables application-oriented and durable sealing.

A special feature of our product is the continuous bore in the piston rod. This opens up a wide range of applications, also in combination with a tie rod. The cylinders can be used both as push and pull cylinders.

The bored piston rod can optionally be supplied with a metric ISO internal thread. In this case, a Heli-Coil insert is installed at the factory in the bored piston rod before delivery. The cylinder itself can be mounted on the external thread of the cylinder housing, if necessary also by means of a locknut.

With their robust design and special and flexible application possibilities, our products are the optimal choice for application-oriented and demanding tasks in various industrial sectors.
